How it works

Randomness comes from crypto.getRandomValues, your browser's cryptographically secure generator, with rejection sampling so every character or word is exactly equally likely. Passwords always include at least one character from each set you select.

Passphrases use the EFF large wordlist (7,776 words, about 12.9 bits per word). Six words is about 77 bits, which is plenty for most accounts; use more for a password manager master password.

The strength shown is the entropy of the generation method, which is a true measure for randomly generated secrets. Nothing is saved; refreshing the page forgets everything.
